Fiskars Silicone Craft Mat Inch Review

I chose this mat as an alternative because the best craft mat I wanted was out of stock. It serves its intended purpose. The problem is the strong chemical smell. It's a toxic odor that causes headaches. Repeatedly washing the kitchen sink did not reduce the smell, did not eliminate the unpleasant stench. I can feel it all over the apartment. I was planning to use it for watercolor painting but the tape will not stick to this mat so only use for hot stamping. It's a good size and fits nicely on the folded wooden TV tray I keep next to the drafting table in the workshop. It's good to be able to put an item on top of something when hot stamping so you don't burn your fingers. Updated on 10/15/2018. It is not fragile like some say. I love this craft mat! I'm so glad I bought two of these - sometimes my sister works with me and other times I like having extra workspace. So far I've used it for painting, working with a glue gun (which always drips) and my alcohol ink. I was very excited to see how clean they would be and using a little mixing solution washed the ink right off the mat. You can see the before and after in the photos I shared.
