For some reason I have two different packages - one is broken, the other is intact. The packaging is totally inadequate as the ribs can easily break. Quality control (common sense) should have noticed this. I haven't used an impeller that survived shipping but it seems fine.

It was exactly as advertised and works great. However, you should understand that only what is shown in the picture is included. The center piece and the rubber stopper that it plugs into are not included in the kit. If you need them, this is a separate article. Based on my experience so far, I assume that I will need another one in a year or three and will definitely replace all moving parts during that time.

A defective impeller cover clamp will break and cause premature wear of this item. to wobble and break. (When I first bought two of these Fluval BrandNew filters the impeller cap that came with it lasted over a year, now I'll be lucky if I can get one that lasts 3 months. The impeller cap's appearance has changed and you could tell that different materials were used)

Perfect for my 404. I knew my impeller was failing as it got loud and stopped working. However, I didn't notice it until it went bad (it twisted in half and damaged the plastic).
