Chemical filter media with two unique filtering sides that combine to provide thorough chemical filtration. Polyester side filters out fine debris and contaminants. Carbon side filters out harmful liquid substances, colorants and odors. Suitable for freshwater, saltwater or reptile environments. Includes two cartridges designed for use with the Fluvial U4 Underwater Filter.

Can be used in Accent model Filter

I didn't like the upgrade kit that had to be purchased for the Fluval Accent Aquarium just to get a replacement filter. I don't think there's just one filter and one bottle of bio that I don't need. I did a little research and ordered these to replace the originals and they work great. The only difference is that these filters don't have an extension at the top to pull them out. Also, they fit and work great in my 25 gallon Fluval Accent tank which comes with its own filter.

It works. on filter accessory

I am using a U4 filter with a Fluval aquarium filter in a 55g pack for aquatic turtles. Together they keep the tank in order and are cheaper than the FX I want. However, this is a short-term fix and the filters are on opposite ends of the tank to push out the dirty water. So as long as it works I wouldn't recommend it to others who can afford the Aqua Turtle FX series. This is the best for fish and I have had no trouble getting my feeder fish into this filter. * Change only one side at a time…

Works great for emptying my tank but doesn't really do it.

Excellent for cleaning the aquarium but poorly removing odors despite the fact that activated carbon is included in the packaging. But to be honest, my planted aquarium has a very tight lid that doesn't let much air in. Chem/Filter changed twice. I also have a Hydor canister filter and cleaning every 6 weeks between filters and water changes. You can rinse these pads with plain tap water as they are not the main source of biological filtration for U4 and will be much cleaner. Then you can…

A good filter and it lacks the eyesore that most filters cause outside the aquarium.

This filter is quiet and the 3 flow settings are great for oxygenation and little action for the fish in all parts of the tank. I have four 4-6 inch Oscars and two plecostomuses in a 55 gallon tank and they've gotten a lot livelier since we got this filter. I don't have room in the back of my tank, it's almost flush with the wall, for traditional filters, and two of my lids have pre-punched holes for the holes, but since I have this filter, they aren't needed.
