FoodSaver Vacuum GM710 000 GameSaver Sealing Review

DON'T WAIT FOR THE HEAT PAD TO COOL DOWN! This device is worth the money - you just don't have to wait for the sealing tape to cool down. I pack a huge amount of kibble for storage and sometimes use this device for 2-3 hours straight. It does the job and then some. So far no problem.

Gaskets foam and decay. Eventually they get juices and you have to replace them. Finding a top and bottom replacement is incredibly difficult. I've tried an aftermarket replacement kit and they don't work. I've tried contacting Foodaver and they want pictures of the device along with literally 15 sets of numbers. Too much hassle for some $5 pads that should be available. Right now I'm just throwing the device away and buying a different brand.

This is my third vacuum sealer, I bought this because my first two worked so well and my husband wanted this big game saver vacuum sealer. Unfortunately, this one has a defect that the other Big Game screensavers didn't have. This is unsealed and wasn't looked at until a few weeks ago so the return guarantee has expired. So we can't go back. So buyers beware, check your product. I wish we had, we only had two others that worked so well. I didn't use it because we don't need it.

I've read a lot of reviews and most of the bad reviews on this product are related to durability. Well, I haven't tried that many vacuum savers and haven't had one in a very long time, but I can say it worked perfectly when I sealed about 50 pounds of yellowfin tuna fillets I caught in Mexico. The only thing it's quoted for as "80 consecutive prints" is what it's at its worst. The only reason for this is to work in harsh conditions, but it is imperfect in every way. I used this for the first time on a fishing trip. I caught some big blue catfish and cut them into fillets. I tried vacuum sealing them and found that the heating element didn't get hot enough to seal the moisture in the path.
