Description of Forney 38070 Solder Rosin Oz

Rosin core solder is ideal for electrical wiring connections because of it-Feets non-conductive residue. Will not cause corrosion or deteriation of electrical connections. Melting point varies highly from 375 to 575 degrees Fahrenheit/190 degrees to 299 degrees Celsius depending on solder size.

Don't buy a solder product

This solder is ridiculous to use, doesn't melt well, does more harm than good, requires too much heat to melt and surrounding parts will melt and crack. don't melt, it crumbles

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Nothing here

Not for crafts!

Good solder, but I want to draw the attention of anyone who buys it for anything other than soldering. Afterward, wash your hands well and do not eat anything near them, and be sure to keep away from children. Didn't mention it anywhere.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Speed

"GENUINE " solder! best solder

It's getting hard to find good old 60/40 rosin solder, especially large diameter ones for big soldering jobs. I use it for battery 2/0 copper wire connectors. A new "impure" solder that is 90% tin, 34% kryptonite, and 150% unusable. OK. useless.

Pros
  • gratifying
Cons
  • so far so good

This is plain old solder that is 60% lead and 40% tin. I returned it because I was looking for ROHS compliant solder and the only thing listed in the specs was silver which apparently meant silver in color. So I thought I'd save someone some trouble and list their components as the seller thought it would be too difficult to include that information. It gets 5 stars because it's a good product and works as intended, I just wish I could give the seller a bad rating and not the product.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Negative Impression

Poor quality material

I've been soldering for over 45 years but I can't figure it out. Too bad they tried both reels and the rosin or tin/lead composition is either wrong or of poor quality. I need to use my old roller to properly tin the soldering iron and the connectors and wires. I can then use a roll of Forney solder to cast.

Pros
  • Tools and household items
Cons
  • No instructions

High performance resin core electro solder suitable for high performance soldering applications such as 1 and 2 gauge battery terminals and cables. Certainly not suitable for any type of wire soldering with 14 gauge or larger wire. It has a very high rosin content and will ignite when soldered with a torch.

Pros
  • Solder
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide

4 stars in favor of the doubt.

I'm pretty sure it's just me, but this is also the first time I've had problems with soldering. Using a soldering gun with a power of 180 watts and all this is very difficult. New tips and such. This is the first time I've used something this massive to solder, so I'm assuming it's user error. In any case, the product is what it says it is and hopefully I can use it for 1/0 gauge terminals.

Pros
  • Welding and Soldering
Cons
  • I don't remember
