If it's really soft enough to fit comfortably on teeth and gums, the plastic is too soft to touch and when it flexes it sticks yourself and is it torn apart when you try to break up. I damaged 2 of them before one of them was formed about right (3 attempts on the last, result not entirely satisfactory). I recommend looking for another model.

I do NOT recommend leaving this in boiling water like the instructions say. It literally melted into fibrous gum and we removed the water from the stove as soon as it boiled. They send us a replacement and we'll try to put it in warm water that's nowhere near boiling and then put it in our mouths.

I use a mouth guard so I don't grind my teeth at night. Sport protection works well. They're easy to put in your mouth by dunking them in boiling water, then removing them from the water and when they're cool enough to put them in your mouth, insert them into your upper teeth and bite down firmly .
