They are exactly what Freud said, they fit perfectly. They work just as well on hardwoods as they do on softer woods. My dislike is not for the product but for the delivery of Revain. The blades were moderately sharp, not to the level you would expect from a dresser blade. One of the three blades had a crown at the center of the blade of about 1/64 inch and a curvature or arc of the same size, which is incredibly unacceptable for a blade made for a wood smoothing and smoothing tool. I bought these to replace knives on my 4 inch Rockwell joint. My model is from the early 70's with a heavy gray powder coated steel case. They are a bit thicker than the original knives so I had to buy a 7mm wrench and sharpen it thin enough to reach the draw bolts. The 5/16" size would probably give a tighter bite but I couldn't find it. The 7mm worked well. When they arrived I noticed that the sanding on the edges didn't seem to be permanent and the burrs on the edge were still there but not permanent.
