Excellent quality for hand or computer routers (CNC)

I have always been pleased with the quality of Freud routers and this set continues that positive trend. Unlike budget bits, they ride in my router without excessive vibration, cut cleanly, and look like they'll last a very long time. As a home/hobby user, I make sure I never wear them out. The packaging emphasizes their CNC capability, meaning they are suitable for use in automatic milling machines, but they work great in traditional manual milling machines. Note that seven of them have a 1/4"

As expected, maybe better.

It's good to start with the CNC router. I was looking for a set of bits for my newly purchased CNC router. It seemed like it could fill the bill, and it did. Bit quality seems decent and range is good for a lot of things. So far I have only used a 1/4" end mill and a 1/8" end mill and they have worked as expected. The results were pretty good on .473" plywood I bought at home <blank>. I did notice some cracking, but that's partly due to my poor clamping system and the way I cut these…

A typical Freudian quality. Perfect!

Every Freud router I've owned - and I've had quite a few - is of the same high quality. This is no exception. If you've recently purchased a CNC machine and need a bit set, or need to fill holes in your existing collection, these sets from Freud are a great place to start. The two sets have different purposes. The 87-208 is more for general CNC threading, while the 87-108 features two narrow tapered ball-point cutters designed for sign making. Attempting to use them in a hand router practically

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
