The edges of the holes were fairly smooth, the bottom was flat. They are intended for use in a drill press. The midpoint is useless beyond 10 or 12 degrees from vertical; moreover, the hole starts at the edge and thus centering on the pit or pencil mark is difficult or impossible. While it's possible on a drill press, it's impossible to do with a hand drill where the bit "walks" at least a little. Build quality is exceptional and easily rated five stars, but like at least one indicated by other customers, I had a duplicate bit in the set. In my case, the blister pack contained two 7/8" nozzles but no 1" Forstner nozzle. Seriously, are you duplicating one article in a series of seven? How hard is it to get it right? Please delegate the packaging quality control line to someone. UPDATE: 9/28/20 I have contacted FREUD about a missing 1" nozzle and am awaiting a response from their customer…

Failed to load media. They cut amazingly clean holes. The shavings come out like hamster litter that you have to constantly clean by pulling on the drill bit to empty them. Be careful of the needle-sharp ends of the center spurs when using them in a power drill. Do not let them get near metal as they may bend or break. They come in a hot-pressed plastic package that you cannot store once opened. It looks suspiciously like the packaging of a Fisch Fostner 7-bit bit set, also made in Austria but…
