Buyers should be careful with bits

A set of multi-edged bits looks like a good idea on paper, but it isn't. If you just had to keep an eye on the bearings you would be fine, but a set of adapter rings is included to make the bearings match. These tiny collars are likely to be lost quickly, rendering the system unusable.

Hard to Bear Update

I was contacted by a Freud representative on my own initiative. He sent me a new bearing with adapters pressed in. Adapters are designed for an interference fit. I really appreciate Freud's time on this topic and the fact that they didn't wait for me to get in touch with them. I would rate this product 5 stars if you didn't have to keep track of all the gears. Pressed gears really are what you need.

Freud Slotting Knife

The cutting part of the set looks very well made and I had no problems cutting tongues in maple leaf. I gave 3 stars for the following reasons: a. 1/ The 4" tongue combination actually creates a 3/16" tongue and there is no combination for the 1/4" tongue, b. When reassembled according to the instructions, the bearing touched the cutting edge (I ended up using a large spacer) and c. There are a lot of small parts and if the plastic package had formed the legs along with all the small…
