Sharpen your sharpening skills

Have not used this product before but have used a stone other than King and it has worked great. Having used a different stone and being new to the whole sharpening experience, I quickly found that I was using a too fine grit stone for my needs as all my tools were factory sharpened. I have a small edge on my block plane and 1/2" chisel (which I accidentally dropped on my finger and immediately sank) and the results made me want a coarser grit. It seems that this stone will bring my edges. down

  • Certified
Cons
  • So far so good

Japanese quality as expected

Good stone for the price, does the job. I bought this primarily to repair abandoned knives and shape the blade in preparation for thinner stones. However, I expected the stone to be a bit thicker. I should have read the dimensions more carefully, but the picture can also be a bit deceiving. The one I received has a black border between the two sides like the King KDS or KW65 1k/6k Dual Stone. The image on the product page does not show this. A final note on packaging: I prefer "Made by Amazon"…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some bugs

Excellent combination stone for initial sharpening

This was a great combination stone giving a very smooth 220 grit medium stone and a smoother 800 grit normal medium stone. storage container. I used it to get a knife I've had for 15 years but needed a new edge as it had some chips on the edge of the blade, not big but enough to need a touch up. I used the Japanese method of sharpening a knife, where you move it up and down, moving along the edge of the knife, rather than dragging the entire edge of the knife with each pass. It woke up really…
