I tried it on 3 different 5 gallon buckets and it just didn't click. I have another brand that fits perfectly so I don't think it's operator error. The rubber mallet didn't change anything. I cannot recommend this in any way.

These lids make getting in and out of a tightly sealed 5 gallon pail a lot easier. Now I can use these buckets for chicken feed, scratching, garden seed, etc. without worrying about animals getting in, although *I* can still get in easily.

Advertised to convert any 5 gallon round pail into airtight storage. Well, my new 5 gallon bucket from Lowe's and one from Tractor Supply shouldn't be round because the lids don't fit on the bucket. I had to use a ratchet and it took a lot of effort to get the ring in place. I then tried unscrewing the lid, but the lid wouldn't snap into place, let alone screw me back on. The pressure required to attach the ring deformed the bucket so much that it could not accommodate the lid.
