Once you use it, it's hard to imagine why you haven't used it before. I find this very helpful for turning on the mains and making sure I don't have a slip on the first clamp. Basically, I bought it to use Yusuki's method of starting the network. This way you get a much more reliable mains voltage. Also suitable for tying knots.

The truth is that you cannot tighten the net without a starting clamp. Especially when using a machine with flying clamps. Honestly I wouldn't recommend that. With this clamp on a Gamma X2 machine, I get fairly consistent line voltage. Of course, it is also great for tying knots. This clip is small, lightweight, easy to use (no calibration required for different gauges), and doesn't leave a mark on my 18-gauge copolymer strings. Highly recommended!

Very expensive for what it is: clamp. But he does his job. I have a Gamma X-2 drop weight stringer and used one of the floating clamps as a launch method (see various instructions on YouTube). I only use one stringer on my racquets as I break the strings once or twice a month.
