Owned for 3 months. It worked great, no problems, but now all of a sudden I can't see the display. Now it has faded in the sun but everything is fine in my garage. Have contacted the seller and am waiting for a response. Updating my rating. Garmin comes with a 1 year warranty. GoGo gave me a number to contact Garmin directly. All is well. They exchange the device and work with me as I am leaving soon and need it. Thanks GoGo for your quick replies and help.

  • Not the best

Excellent except for the demo mode

Once you figure out how to use BaseCamp, the thing is great. Watch a lot of YouTube videos and you will be fine. You can plan trips and then upload them to Zumo. You can also download GPX files from other websites and turn them into routes like [.]. The screen is bright for me and the music function is great. I loaded a lot of songs onto a microSD card (you must use your own and it takes no more than 32GB). My biggest concern is that if it doesn't find a GPS signal after a few minutes, it will…

Garmin 590 - An older version of the 550

The screen is difficult to see due to the use of a transflective screen and although the 590's screen is larger than the 550, the fonts and streets are smaller and much harder to see than on my old Garmin 550. The 590 requires LOTS of button presses to get tangled up in the menus. The advanced weather option is terrible and only shows a tiny pixelated storm and you can't zoom in on the local view of the storm. . I was only able to zoom in to show half of Florida and a tiny pink pixel showing a…

Best easily the best GPS I have ever had

Best easily the best GPS I have ever had. Ultra-fast response time, fast update; Crazy tech that actually makes the screen look better and more readable in the sun - love it; Auto-oriented, I don't have to hack anything - finally!; A good screen, much, much better than the 390LM (which I owned and sold) makes a world of difference; Tracking information is real, very fast display; Traffic/weather - so-so, I don't really rely on it, but nice to have; Crazy Appozoid software for phone calls…

No product support!

If you've been in the market for a while, you might think that firmware updates keep this $800 GPS up to date. It's not, Garmin supports its products by forcing the design department to eliminate kinks, mediocre at best. I have connected Galaxy S7 and Sena 20s to the device. If you log into Pandora to listen to music, then step out of range of your phone and switch to media, the devices just flicker and turn off! I say "units" because when I contacted Garmin support they asked me to re-pair the

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

Garmin technology is a bit behind; This is nothing new for those who have used an MP3 player on a standalone Garmin GPS or tried to connect their phone to it. The 590LM model is similar to the Greatest American Hero costume; It has many features but no instructions on how to use those features. First, only buy it if you are happy with its use as a GPS. As an interface for the iPhone, it's more like the interface of a 5-year-old machine. In the media player you can choose from different inputs…
