Compared to the older model I have for the early Etrex series, this adapter has a lower build quality. The cable is smaller in diameter and not as flexible as in the previous model; I wonder how it will be when the weather turns cold. But like I said, it works great and you really don't have any other easy choices if you want to power your GPS from the car.

This adapter works great with eTrex. This allows you to constantly turn on the backlight of the display while driving. A big plus for visibility. And it saves batteries. The only downside I've found so far is that the USB connector fits my Blackberry, so I figured I could charge it with this cable. I did a 6 hour trip last summer and this unit was fantastic as I was able to use my Garmin's lights the whole way. and never had to worry about the batteries running out. I also use it at night when the backlight is very important. It conveniently plugs into the device's USB port and works great with my dash mount.
