Good for camper trips: Car GPS

Good travel device. You can enter information about your motorhome that affects the routing. It doesn't really last long on battery, so make sure you have a 12-volt power source when traveling.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, everything is fine

Garmin "Smartlink " app.

In order to receive traffic reports, the GPS module must use a Bluetooth connection with a smartphone (data plan or Wi-Fi). I've never been able to link it, and even if I could, it's too buggy a system. Glad I got a chance to test it out ahead of an 8,000 mile trip this summer. Add to that the inconvenience of connecting the GPS to a computer for trip planning, it's just poor design - even a $200 refurbished device is overkill. Pay when Google Maps is free and honestly works a lot better. The…

Misleading Purchase Best in Car GPS

You'd think Garmin would put route restrictions in its mapping system so that cars would only drive on boulevards. Use of an RV trailer is restricted to commercial traffic roads. If you can calculate the weight and height how about finding the right route when a truck towing a wheeled trailer is only limited to commercial roads. I live in Long Island, New York, and when I was traveling around New York, this unit made me break the law by directing me to every boulevard that restricted business…

Good equipment, high milling accuracy.

This is my second Garmin RV GPS. I used to have a 760 with a wireless backup camera. The 770 is a step up in hardware design and user interface, but it still suffers from routing errors. From time to time he tries to direct me to roads that specifically forbid wheelies or have height or weight restrictions. These roads are typically parkways in the Northeastern United States, but may be common in other areas of the country. (The time will show). I have read many blogs looking for the best…

GPS is good but needs improvement

The user interface takes some getting used to. It's unintuitive and a bit slow when entering an address - very slow compared to using Google Maps on my smartphone. The route is ok, certainly not the easiest or most direct route, again compared to google maps. The main reason for buying a GPS was that on my campervan it could, and for the most part does, warn of low bridges and the like. ***** BUT, one day he let me down and the bridge was below my entered maximum height. ***** Luckily I added 6
