Garmin at its best

The device offers everything you would expect from Garmin with a great display, speed and intuitive navigation. Additional Bluetooth connection support for your cell phone, built-in Wi-Fi and LiveTrack do all you need. I've paired mine with a heart rate monitor, cadence sensor, speed sensor and Varia rearview radar.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Expensive

POOR BUILD QUALITY - GARMIN, NOT MORE!

I'm giving up Garmin as I've been a loyal Garmin customer for years I'm finally tired of their products. Every device I've bought (4 of them) had sync issues and basically fell apart after a year or two. Buying overpriced Garmin products was a waste of money, these days there are many other brands that have bluetooth 5.0, ANT+ etc to connect any sensor you want and I quickly switch to another brand. I also called Garmin. Customer service complained about the quality and was told they could only

Ideal for bike navigation.

This is an amazing tool for the cyclist. I've taken several courses in it and it gets me exactly where I need to go. It's easy to read, and emits a small buzz a few yards before each corner, and another buzz when you actually arrive at the correct corner. All the negative comments you've seen in other reviews just don't apply to this latest model. It will also be sent to any address you enter, and if you get off course while driving, it will tell you that you are natural and get back on course…

  • Everything is fine!

Great product and worth the price.

I bought the Garmin Edge 1000 as an upgrade from the Edge 820 because I bought a Garmin Varia radar system for my bike. The Edge 1000 has an upgraded screen over the 820 and that's a big difference. The colors and brightness of the 820 appear to be dimmer after using the Edge 1000. In addition, with advanced features such as the route display, you can create routes based on a predefined distance. This is useful when driving in unfamiliar terrain. We also tried to find the safest route that…

Fun and useful for tracking learning.

I use it on all bike rides and also on hikes although the numbers aren't that useful. For the price it would be nice to have a 2 in 1 device. It was difficult to learn how to operate and it took me many rides with failed or inaccurate data logging before I got to the process and was able to connect peripheral monitors (heart, cadence, bike tracking). Note that without a bike monitor, speed is calculated using GPS, which "averages" the time-distance equation over distance (not clear in the…

  • Easy to use

GPS for bikes and more

Received it and did a two day 180 mile one way bike ride the next day. I had a backup plan—a full-size, folded AAA roadmap. But the Edge 1000 was easy to use. The card is still neatly folded. I never needed it. Battery life was around 9 hours - not quite the advertised 13 or 14 hours, but I did have a spare battery that I use with my phone. When I got a low battery warning on the Edge, I put it in the spare tire and drove on. Edge routed me on good bike paths and a few trails - sent me the…
