Close to being amazing.

Was hoping to use this watch for GPS tracking when there is no network coverage. At my home, the altimeter is over 200 feet off the mark on average. GPS location is poor and can be 200 meters at worst. After the update, the watch stopped downloading weather data. This is wrong. Would rely on this watch to keep everything accurate except for the time.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Good improvements from Fenix โ€‹โ€‹3

This watch replaced my Fenix 3 which I have always been happy with. So far I'm really liking the Fenix 6. The battery life is amazing. I run 4 miles a day with GPS tracking and the battery lasts easily over 10 days. Works well with strength training. The sleep tracking and steps seem pretty accurate. Slightly more "portable" than the Fenix 3 - a smaller profile on my small wrist. No complaints.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Can't remember

great watch 6 fits wide wrists

Just received today. I'll update the review in about a week when I get a chance to play with it. I was looking for an attractive, durable and lightweight smartwatch with a long battery life that I can use for sleep and activity tracking. I could probably buy a cheaper watch but I like a size 6 on my wrist. I downloaded several watchfaces. Super easy to do. Just follow the in-app instructions to connect. As with all Garmin devices, notifications are mirrored from your phone, so change them up if

GPS performance is very weak - Difficulty getting a signal

Extremely disappointing how GPS works. Sometimes I wait more than 15 minutes to get a signal (and don't get it). I don't get a GPS signal on 90% of my hikes, so the tracks are not plotted on the map. I contacted the support team but they didn't help and didn't even reply later. The Fenix 3 I own worked better. It also has a distinct icon that shows in red or green when a GPS signal has been received. Fenix 6 is a disappointment. I do not recommend this watch.

Pros
  • Working GPS units
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Great product for sports and portable GPS navigators

This product was purchased to replace a Garmin Fenix5 that had a faulty altimeter. The price was good because I was willing to take the only design offered at a $100 discount. Fenix6 is a noticeable improvement over Fenix5. If you liked the Fenix5, you'll almost certainly like it more than the 6. I found the ability to select and change the watch face particularly useful. I can see the time, date, battery level, heart rate, step progress and "move" status on my favorite watch face. I highlyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • GPS Locators and Accessories
Cons
  • Good but not great

Do you have an engineering background?

I consider myself fairly tech savvy. But I believe watches shouldn't require an engineering degree to work. First, I'm probably used to the touchscreen, there's only one button. I have a hard time reading the screen unless I'm holding it in the right light or you don't have to press the backlight button to get that gray blurry screen. Finally, and this is personal, my son has diabetes, which is why I use the CGM app. The apps available for Garman are pretty ridiculous. You have to perform aโ€ฆ
