From 305 to 310XT via GPS, viewfinder and accessories

After about 7 years and 40,000 km, my Garmin 305 has finally stopped bothering me. Jumping out of the cradle and falling onto the road hitting a pothole didn't help. I looked at several Garmin sports computers and other GPS computers and settled on the 310XT. It's an upgrade from the 305, and while it doesn't have multi-colored maps and real-time data uploads, it has all the speed, distance, heart rate, and other standard measurements I need while running or riding. . Carefully. 310xt is something of a bad A$$.

I bought my 310xt in 2013 and it still works. It no longer syncs with my aging iMac, but the software works fine on my fiancรฉ's old PC. The battery life was a key selling point as I'm working on running a marathon or even an ultramarathon in the future. Of course, the downside with this type of battery life is that it's not as accurate as other Forerunners. It works fine with the heart rate monitor and when it doesn't read properly I turn off the battery in the heart rate monitor and everything

Pros
  • Working GPS navigators
Cons
  • Some little things

Bought it for sailing, great for that and other aerobic sports. Universal!

I bought it to use as a small waterproof GPS for swimming. Considering it's designed for triathlon, I was a little surprised at how well the device adapts to other uses. They are not, and never will be, dedicated sailing watches, unable to detect your approach to your destination, but there really is nothing more versatile at this price point, let alone waterproof. The map mode, along with info pages showing knot speed and distance traveled, are more than adequate for basic navigation when I'mโ€ฆ
