This GPS works on portable GPS navigators

I have several built-in and portable GPS modules, as well as phones, iPads and laptops. This device is accurate, easy to read and easy to use with proper training. I would probably sway him from his ideal form for two reasons, but they're actually pretty minor. Speech recognition doesn't always recognize my voice, but only a few devices do. Second, the suction cup mount didn't work in my case, so I used a permanent base. This device allows you to plan a multi-stop trip and pick up at any…

Pros
  • Control your voice and enjoy hands-free calls (requires BLUETOOTH enabled smartphone) and built-in Wi-Fi connection for easy map and software updates without a computer
Cons
  • Some cons

Better Google as a backup

I just finished an intercity trip with it. I'm new to this and may not be using it most effectively. However, this thing does a good and sometimes terrible job at routing. On one occasion I was told that I10 in Houston was closed and they tried to send me a 250 mile detour. I-10 was closed, but traffic was diverted to the front road. In my hometown, there isn't even the new stretch of highway that opened over a year ago. It takes me through the city in an incredible way, which is by no means…

Pros
  • Custom routing takes your RV's size and weight into account and then finds the best route (not available in all regions)
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Huge improvement over RV760

Bought this to replace a Garmin RV 760 that I have had for five years. Years. The RV 890 is a big step forward. It's not just a big and bright screen. The software has been greatly improved, the user interface is more intuitive, the touchscreen is more responsive, the voice recognition is better and the processor is faster. The suction cup mount to the windshield on this thing is monstrous, in contrast to the much smaller one that came with the RV 760 that kept losing traction in warm weather…

Pros
  • Map updates included; preloaded street maps for North America covering USA, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bahamas
