Inflexible, useless and annoying

This GPS was horrible. It is not updated on the Garmin website. He didn't properly warn about corners. He was rigid and inflexible: he categorically refused to accept that the route to Carmel had to be south (San Diego) north to Salinas and back south to Carmel. He kept trying to get us to turn around and head back south and never counted. The user interface was bad. It only requires written input, it only works if you have an accurate mailing address, it's very bad at picking the best routes…

Life changing device for me!

My husband had a stroke three weeks ago. This forced me to travel to foreign cities to reach him for appointments with various doctors and specialists. I've never had a good sense of direction, so I've never traveled much. I was always dependent on my husband to take me somewhere. When the stroke happened, it forced me to become a driver. This GPS device saves my life. I don't know what I would do without him. Now, when I find out that my husband needs to go to this and that place, I'm no…

Setting up and updating is very easy.

Setting up and updating is very easy. Connect your GPS to your PC or laptop using the supplied USB cable. Go to Garmin.com/Express to register and update. GPS is very easy to use. My only complaints are: 1. It needs to be constantly connected to the network. If unplugged, it will die within 10-15 minutes. No hour as stated in their specs. It also needs 2 hours or more to be fully charged when it breaks down.2. After the first update the GPS memory was at 96%. That means you have to buy a…

Garmin Geography Lesson

I live in Alaska and obviously assumed that when the description said this unit came preloaded with US maps, Alaska was included because guess what Garmin, ALASKA LOCATED IN THE UNITED STATES! That's right folks, we've been one state since 1959. Look at the map. There we are right there with the rest of the US. We're not drawn to scale because it makes Texas uncomfortable, but we're on the map. Now it has been revealed that there is another device that contains maps of Canada and is more…

Reasons I like it better than Google Maps

Garmin Drive 50 USA LM I bought this GPS unit to backup Google Maps on my Nexus 5 for an overland trip from Illinois to California. Surprisingly, by the end of the trip, I was using a Garmin about 99% of the time. I compare this device to Google Maps, which I use 99% of the time. Reasons I like it more than Google Maps: 1. The split screen was really informative, especially with large lane directions in unfamiliar areas and upcoming stops displayed alongside the map without having to navigate…
