Gates 31118 Oil Cap - Premium Black Cap for Ultimate Engine Protection Review

After I put it to the test, I found this oil cap to be a complete disaster. The cap barely fits and the seal is weak, leading to messy leaks. The only positive is that it's easy to install. Save yourself the hassle and go for a better quality replacement cap.

changing the oil cap on my jeep 4.0 liter 6 cylinder. Bought used car. The previous owner had a similar cap but no o-ring, but the dummy continued to use it when oil dripped onto the engine. Too bad they no longer teach auto mechanic courses in public schools.

I ordered this version of the XJ oil cap because it was supposed to be one piece but the one you get is two piece junk which breaks on first heat up. . I have a Gates cap but not the one in the picture. I even asked for a replacement as it wasn't pictured here, but guess what I got? So now I have 2 crappy versions. I gave it 2 stars because it works as intended, it's just a terrible design.
