Best Tensioner I Have Ever Used!

This tensioner assembly from Gates is a fantastic product that helped me complete my car's engine overhaul. Based on my experience, it is perfect for any automotive project that requires a quality component. The assembly was easy to install and provided me with the exact tension I needed for my engine belt. The only downside I experienced was that it is slightly more expensive than some other options on the market, but it is definitely worth the investment for the quality and longevity it…

Pros
  • Easy to install and use
Cons
  • May require periodic maintenance to ensure optimal performance

Do not buy! - Replacement Parts

Bought a Gates tensioner along with a Gates belt to match the components. The belt is fine, but the tensioner is weak. Now my engine is squeaking. This component requires you to disassemble the engine compartment AGAIN. Save time and money, buy something else.

Pros
  • Patented labyrinth seal protects internal components to meet or exceed OE life expectancy.
Cons
  • Frequency

Fits like factory part

My tensioner on my 2005 Altima 2.5 has failed. The installation was difficult only because of the free space. Do yourself a favor and remove the alternator and fuse box for easy access when replacing the tensioner. Also, make sure you have long ratchet and/or bobble heads to help with the job too. The screws will gradually tighten, so patience is required here.

Pros
  • Torsion spring Round spring design provides reliability and consistent tension
Cons
  • Upgradeable
