This is a CCU - copper clad aluminum. It cannot handle the same amperage as copper wire and should never be used for important projects. Don't make the same costly mistake I did.

Actual wire size inside the shield is closer to the #12. I need to replace it with the correct size now. I would advise Amazon to stop selling this product as it may cause a fire due to the smaller wire sold as #10.

Wire definitely looks like 10ga and has thick insulation which is good; however, it appears to be a copper-clad aluminum wire. When I cut the wire the core appears to be a shiny silver. In fact, this cable looks more like a 12ga cable. Therefore, in this case, I rate the costs with 3 stars. Buyer now requires copper plated aluminum when installing in a location that requires 10ga wire.
