Fix it, don't replace the whole dishwasher.

Exact replacement part for my dishwasher. The old one was slowly failing over time and you had to fiddle with the door latch lever to get it working. Finally completely given up. I removed the front door cover, did a bit of troubleshooting and found that one of the two interlock switches inside had melted and was no longer making contact. The swap was pretty easy and I did it within 20 minutes (with the help of a 4 and 6 year old!). After the repair it worked perfectly. The part turned out to…

This switch fixed my GE

Just what I needed to get my GE tumble dryer working again. On my GE dryer, this switch detects a broken belt and stops the dryer if it breaks. The symptom was that I turned the start button and the dryer started to work, but when I released the start button the dryer stopped. At first I thought the problem was with the start grip switch and replaced the switch first but that didn't fix the problem. Further research led me to this switch hidden under the drying tub. This switch has a tough life

In my case the switch is used to shut off the tumble dryer (GE/Hotpoint) in the event of a broken drive belt. The new switch worked great, but due to the design of the dryer, replacing the switch required extensive disassembly of the dryer. The dryer is the cheapest model that we "inherited” when we bought the house. Unless you're very mechanically savvy, I wouldn't recommend a do-it-yourself switch replacement on an older, less expensive model of this type. But after replacing the derailleur…
