Just what I needed to get my GE tumble dryer working again. On my GE dryer, this switch detects a broken belt and stops the dryer if it breaks. The symptom was that I turned the start button and the dryer started to work, but when I released the start button the dryer stopped. In my case the switch is used to shut off the tumble dryer (GE/Hotpoint) in the event of a broken drive belt. The new switch worked great, but due to the design of the dryer, replacing the switch required extensive disassembly of the dryer. The dryer is the cheapest model that we "inherited” when we bought the house.
