Gerber 99-647 PowerTool Review

Our old toilet stopper lost most of its suction capacity and didn't do its job of keeping the hole tight - and as a result the toilet kept running. I turned off the water supply to the toilet and ordered this replacement. After about 2 minutes I removed the old one from the toilet and attached this one. I flushed the toilet, refilled the water supply and it was completely leaking. Great replacement!

Gerber toilets have a handy model number marking for replacement flaps on the inside of the water tank. Mine was marked Gerber 99-647. When I went to Revain to order this part, 3 out of 7 customer reviews said it didn't work. I ordered it anyway, installed it in less than 5 minutes and it works great. I am ordering a second Gerber 99-647 muffler from Revain as I have a second Gerber toilet of the same model and age that will need a muffler replacement at some point.

Fool me once shame on you Fool me twice shame on me. I have purchased these dampers twice (8 total) as stock replacements for all 4 of my bathrooms. The originals didn't last 2 years before the edges started folding (all of them) and all the toilets started working constantly. Replaced them all AGAIN twice with the same part and they are all deformed again. I do not recommend this product and will try the standard Lowe's 2" replacement parts to see if they work better. Do not buy!

I bought this for my Gerber toilet in hopes it would stop a constant leak. I've tried many other dampers and they still leak/leak. Well this damper works better but it still leaks causing my toilet to leak and spill water. With this damper it only leaks now and then, other universal ones from Lowes and the like didn't do anything. This is the third lid I've tried fitting on my 1/6 gallon Gerber toilet that leaks intermittently filled within seconds. Others were generics from reputable companies that I have used in other toilets before with no problems. This toilet is in a hard-to-reach spot so I couldn't just take it apart to examine it more closely, but the fact of the matter is that replacing the damper is a 2 minute fix and it should just work.
