very good mini pc: desktops

Cheaper options are available but they usually come with older processors, third party or inferior quality components and improperly licensed and/or compromised operating systems (and BIOS). -it). I'm a big Asus fan and Gigabyte's quality is on par. This base system is a great match for the components I have chosen: - Memory: TEAMGROUP Elite DDR4 32GB (2 x 16GB) 2666MHz PC4-21300 CL19 kit. 1.2V Non-ECC 1.2V 260-pin SODIMM Unbuffered SSD: SK Hynix Gold P31 500GB PCIe NVMe Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal…

Small computer with big weaknesses

Among the compact computers, this one is equipped with an Intel iCore processor, a VESA kit that allows you to install it on the back of the monitor and two HDMI 2.0 outputs connecting two 4K monitors. The i5 can get warm, so the fan inevitably gets loud often. I think this is a common problem for all small computers using iCore processors. The biggest problem I've had with Gigabyte is connecting a monitor. This PC is connected to two LG 4K monitors. In almost 100% of cases, monitors show no…

Constant fan noise - often unbearable

This is my 4th Brix and the previous 3 were really good. This one seems poorly designed. The fan is loud and the fan noise is constant. It never stops and changes depending on the temperature and CPU speed, so there are often long periods of high-pitched noise and high-pitched whines that are quite hard to bear. If you're planning on leaving your mini PC on your desk (isn't that the point?) then my advice is to find an alternative that doesn't offer a full sonic attack.

This is a great little PC.

I am very happy with this Brix. It appears to be solidly built. Installing RAM and SSD was easy, as was installing Linux Mint. My previous PC was a fanless Compulab box so I was concerned about having a fan on my desktop, but the Brix is very quiet. I would recommend Brix to anyone looking for a compact (actually tiny) but very powerful PC.

  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Something different

Great little ESXi host

I ordered this system as a small home lab server. I installed 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD and turned on ESXi. I was able to easily set up multiple Linux and Windows virtual machines. It's pretty fast and has lots of cores/threads to work with. The only problem I've found is that when it's running hard the fan speeds up and it gets a bit noisy. Compared to the workstation it replaced, it's still very quiet and uses less power, significantly reducing running costs.
