    Hallelujah! It works!

Works out of the box on AsRock x570 Taichi, unlike AIC AsRock actually makes this for their own boards which I gave up a long time ago and sent back - and it's cheaper too! The small AIC requires a lot of cabling (2x 6-pin PCIe power connector, USB connector, TB3 connector and of course an external DisplayPort cable), but it gets the job done. I was a little worried when the installer just silently closed, but then I plugged it in and it started playing, so everything's fine. I have two…

Supports 3-pin and 5-pin Thunderbolt ports ONLY.

If you're looking for a Thunderbolt card for your desktop, check if your motherboard has a Thunderbolt connector. This version (Rev 2.0) works with 3-pin and 5-pin connectors. The forums are probably suggesting this works, but with no workarounds that might break the product, make sure you have the correct connector as there are several different implementations of it. If you're looking for a larger 2-row fork, there isn't one. The quality was good in both the packaging and the product. I can't

Works perfectly well! It will control your lightning fast displays.

Installation is fairly easy. The only difficulty I had was that the card has both 3-pin and 4-pin ports that need to be connected to their respective Thunderbolt ports on the board, albeit for the x570 gigabyte I installed -Mobo only one of the two ports was present. I had to refer to the updated manual for this particular mobile device as the printed manual didn't mention anything about these ports (not even listed in the diagram). With only one port connected, everything worked fine. I can…

Picky on setup, watched lots of videos, instead just read this

While I had real trouble fixing the installation, it was user error. I used the wrong cable. The following is not mentioned in the literature: Enable TB3 support in the BIOS as well as PCIO. You don't have any of the pins on your MOBO, just use the wire tricks mentioned by others. The problem I had was that I couldn't update the software or detect Thunderbolt devices, I could only use standard Type-C devices. My thunderbolt hub didn't show up because my cable didn't meet specs so don't buy…

Not as useful as I thought it would be

Basically I bought a Thunderbolt (tbt) card to move data from my main computer to an external drive faster. tbt SSDs are currently available that take advantage of the tbt speed, heat up after transferring a few gigabytes of data, and then slow the transfer speed down to USB 3.0 speeds. Typically, the speed starts at 1200 Mbps and drops to 100 Mbps after about a minute. Also, tbt drives are roughly twice as expensive as USB 3.2 Gen 2 drives of the same capacity. And considering throttling, 2nd…
