Disappointing performance of fireplace cement

Based on our own experience, this contact cement failed to hold up under high temperatures and left a messy residue. The pros were that it was easy to apply and had a quick drying time. However, the cons far outweighed the pros as we had to constantly reapply the cement and it did not provide a secure seal. Overall, we do not recommend this product for any high-heat applications.

Pros
  • Easy to use and apply
Cons
  • Requires protective gear and proper ventilation for application due to harmful fumes

The product is great!

I used this to attach the bricks to my chimney walls. Let it dry for two days and it will become solid concrete. To my surprise, after three runs there are no cracks, the previous mortar from other brands had to be sealed after the first run. It needs to be stirred thoroughly, but it sticks to the walls very well and almost does not drain. Loved it, will definitely use again.

Pros
  • Adhesives, sealants and lubricants
Cons
  • Some small things

Excellent Material

I build forges and I usually use refractory bricks. This time I used furnace cement from GIRtech. mix for a few minutes and pour the cement over the kaovule. After 20 minutes the upper cement had already hardened. I sit in the sun waiting for tomorrow and when the going gets tough I put my last 20% (that I saved) on the cement to keep it smooth. I'll add a photo later

Pros
  • Contacts Cements
Cons
  • Drill Packing
