🔑 Aluminum Alloy Mechanical Keyboard Keycap Opener for Gateron Cherry MX Switches - Effortless Metal Switch Glide Review

Used this to open up my Cherry switches for smearing, noticed a noticeable loosening of the levers that snap into place when the switch is reassembled. Not sure if this is a design flaw or an issue with my particular device, I was very careful to apply enough force just to open it but apparently it was enough to cause damage.

You can do without the cheap pullers that come with this opener, but otherwise it's essential for all your keyboard modifications. It's a little tricky to turn off the normally closed switches, but other than that it works as it should. I haven't tested this with MX or anything like Outemu, but it works with Gaterons as advertised.

Although NovelKey Cream is made by Kailh they use the MX latch system. You'll be disappointed if you happen to buy both of them because you can't use this cream opener. The Cherry MX version may work but I won't be ordering it to find out as I ordered another product with both style switches just to be sure. I don't know how to rate this product as I feel like I can't, but I think it requires some sort of indication.

I bought this to replace the Gat ink spring/stem pair. It opened normally, although initially it was difficult to pull it out of the opener. I found a trick for this, so no big deal. However, the problem arose when I tried to put the radio buttons back into my CTRL - they didn't go back into the panel. I purchased this product after I was unable to open my switches with a 3D printed PLA model. The printed plastic often broke at one of the four small notches that opened the switch. So far this product has not given me any trouble opening the switches. It takes cherry switches well to slide in place. After installing the switch, a small push is all it takes to open the housing.
