Die in more than 3 weeks on Yosemite Mac? Maybe not

I see others complaining about Yosemite incompatibilities and this might be a different one. newer Macbook Pro Started with Yosemite 10.10.2 Time Machine recognized Mac Mini TM file and offered to backup Macbook TM separately Flawless Then June 2015 Apple updated to 10.10.3 partition with Time Machine backups unmounted and not wanted to be provided deleted. I was able to circumvent the latter by putting it back into the RE partition for just one partition, after which it was mounted and…

Pros

Cons
  • Nothing

Glyph hard drives have a history of superior performance, but as with all purchases I make, I tend to be cautious until the quality is proven. I didn't have to be so jaded. External HK Glyph Studio S1000 1TB 360MB/s is a great product based on my experience so far (about a month). It's very quiet, works great in combination with the iMac's small network, and offers top-notch bootable disk-based backups created with CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner). then buy this device. (And I have absolutely no…

Great Backup Hard Drive for iMac!

Nothing could be simpler than plugging in the Glyph Studio S6000 6TB external hard drive, turning it on and using it with my 27" iMac (Late 2009)! Apple releases security and operating system updates that crash my computer almost every time. A good, easy-to-use backup or Time Machine drive has become an absolute must. Luckily, that 6TB has got you covered and it couldn't be easier to unbox and start using.

Works well for me with computers and accessories

Just to be clear, I only bought this to use as an extended storage device for my DirecTV programs. Since both this unit and my DirecTV genie have EASA input I can store my programs on this unit which allows me to maintain a large database of recorded programs. The downside is that if my DirecTV Genie or this hard drive fails, my programs will be lost. DirecTV designed their devices so that every ghost owns the hard drive attached to it. So far I haven't had any problems.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • No instructions

Excellent Home Studio Backup

I use it as a Time Machine backup and also as my primary sample streaming drive for VST and audio applications. At full throttle (over 24 track sessions along with whatever the Mac tells it to do) it barely heats up and stays quiet. This is one of those products designed to run quietly in the background, plug it in, and expect it to do its job. This disc arrived with no problems. Great value for 2TB, Fast, Quiet, Prime Shipping, you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Low maintainability

Great Drive, that's a glyph

Great Drive, that's a glyph, enough words if you're in the music industry! My only small complaint and I don't want to lower this rating as it turns on automatically when you start your computer but you have to turn it off manually when you turn off your computer. If you record weekend warrior music, you might come back the next week and find it playing all week while the computer was off. It's okay if you noticed, it took me a few tries to remember but now I'm programmed to turn it off. Maybe…

great upgrade from a previous version. a mistake.

First, this version of Glyph drives is a big improvement over the previous generation. This 4TB drive is very quiet. my other glyph 2tb drive makes a constant humming noise which i attribute to either the fan or some other movement. If they were discs, they would have failed already. Case is the same size as my 2TB drive. seems reliable. I already have 2+ TB and am working on a few videos. seems reliable. So why -1 star? When I first plugged it in, it didn't mount. After waiting 2 minutes for…

Die in 3+ weeks on Yosemite Mac? Maybe no

I see others complaining about Yosemite incompatibility and this might be a different one. with Time Machine 300 GB in about 4 hours Moved to a newer Macbook Pro Launched with Yosemite 10.10.2 Time Machine would not mount and would not delete. I was able to circumvent the latter by putting it back into the RE partition for just one partition and then mounting it and allowing any level of secure erase. Deleted and sent back for a refund. Either Apple needs to get rid of every nightmare of…
