Best Tire Depth Checker

Pros: Comes with 2 so you can gift to a friend. The quality is definitely there. The numbers are easy to read. I could understand. Basically, you can only see from the color that appears whether the profile depth is sufficient. I do that personally. No major problems. Good product.

32's don't have enough markings

I bought these as we seem to keep Discount Tire in store we buy so many tires for all our vehicles. Just last year we bought 20 tires just for our private cars so we thought I should have a tire gauge handy. The interesting thing about this gauge is that on the 32nd side of the gauge the small markings are missing right where they are needed. . So, as an analogy, imagine an air gauge working in increments of 15 instead of 1. It's a fine caliber, it just doesn't hit the mark, at least not on the

hand grenades and horseshoes. aka close enough

I bought a digital LCD tester with metric/inch conversion to check tire tread for a motorcycle trunk along with this basic tool and the Estimation accuracy isn't great, but it's close enough. I like both metric and standard markings and that was a very big reason I went with these over many others. Just know it's not entirely correct. Save some money and confusion before switching wheels haphazardly. This tool helps you understand where wheel alignment is based on tire wear patterns.

Important, read first

This looks pretty good at first glance, but I think it has a pretty serious problem: the tension required to move the gauge in the case is almost ZERO , and not being able to read the sensor when pressed against the tire almost always results in an incorrect reading, since the moment you pull it back the sensor is almost ALWAYS off from the correct reading. I found a way to fix it myself, but you have to gut it to fix it and that will almost certainly screw it up. A simple fix during the…

Wow! Really good (for the price)

I've used the penny method ("If you can't see the top of Abe, you need new tires" my whole life). And it worked fine. The only problem was that with the rear tires, where you can't rotate the wheels to view the entire tread, it was sometimes difficult to get an accurate reading on the INSIDE edge. Also, it only told you if your tires were good, not how much tread you had left. So I decided on a sensor. I found a lot. Some were expensive. I don't need that much gauge. These Gaudeson gauges were…
