Bought this for my study abroad trip to Ireland. I use this pack weekly for shopping, short trips into town and short hikes. It folds up fairly easily and I haven't had any issues with the fabric or the zippers (note I didn't get a chance to test its water resistance). I bought this to take as a personal item on the plane and then use it once on a hike to my destination. This is a good size to carry on an airplane. If you don't overdo it, it fits perfectly under the front seat. The only problem I had was when I was in the middle seat on an Icelandair plane. There was something under all the middle seats that made the storage space smaller so it ALMOST fit but kind of got stuck in my legroom. It folds down into a small zipped pouch which in backpack mode is actually a handy zipped pocket at the top of the bag for items you don't want to put in your bag like money, sunglasses, lip balm.
