Made entirely of plastic including the clamping mechanism which was metal in the old version of this product. You will use one of these about 10 times, and then the parts connecting the hair clip will break from fatigue. Go elsewhere and look for better quality with a metal clamping mechanism.

I bought a couple of these after trying them out as I always need to stock up. They're great for ponytails that won't hurt, damage your hair, or slip out no matter how thick your hair is. They also look better and more sophisticated than the usual hair ties that are so prevalent. I've been using them for years and have been lucky with the durability. I only broke one and it was my fault for pushing the mechanism too hard.

Glad I found these as I didn't know they existed. The metal version has long been my favorite clip (I have fine hair and most types of clips tend to just slip off; this autoclasp style holds up well), but metal can sometimes cut my hair a bit. Plastic ones hold up well without this issue and they appear to be well made and durable.

I liked the hairpin at first, but plastic fatigue quickly set in and it couldn't hold my thick hair anymore. It would just show up. It took me about 2 or 3 weeks to give up. I was able to adjust it to hold in the clasp before it gave up, but there's too much adjustment.

These are NOT the black clips as pictured and nothing in the description tells me they will come in different colors. Got an ugly green and disgusting orange hair clip instead of the classic black one I was expecting.

This hair clip is NOT NEEDED as it is made entirely of plastic. I braid my thin long hair into a messy curl with a single clip. It worked and I was able to sleep with it too. After about a month of on/off, one of the clips broke off. It's definitely not for keeping a lot of hair, IMO.

One of the clips has a bent part of the clasp so I can't use it. To be fair I didn't notice until it was too late to be asked to replace it, it's not worth my hassle. The size is large enough, but for my child, the thin straight tail does not shrink in proportion to the thin diameter like other products. I had. It just doesn't work for me. The hinge is made of silicone or a similar material.
