🔧 Standard Greenlee 1700 Desoldering Tool Review

I prefer it to desoldering braid when I can use it. My old one was in two pieces bolted down the middle. Eventually the very small steps stopped holding it together so I took this one. Problem solved. I used epoxy to fix the old one but I will never be able to take it apart again.

For the last 6 months I have been using the Radioshack plastic desoldering tool with heavy use ie 10000 connections. It worked pretty well when I first got it but over time it lost suction and finally one day I pushed the release and the plunger flew through the air and landed halfway across the room. This is a case in point - I looked at other teardown tools (some more expensive) when I saw that they had better reviews.
