Accurate enough for any woodworking or woodworking machine setup.

The set is accurate enough for those who work in woodworking and/or adjust woodworking machines such as table saws, miter saws or other woodworking tools that require fine tuning. Each square is packed in a bag of oil to prevent rusting. And as mentioned in other reviews, this is NOT stainless steel, but rather strong steel. That means you can be extra careful with them, but it also means you can store them on a magnetic strip.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

  • There are disadvantages

Read the description in Zimmermannswinkel

I was a little surprised at how small they are but it's my fault for not reading the description fully. They're accurate enough for everything I make in my garage workshop, and even the smaller ones work well for aligning table/miter saw blades and came in handy when I was making jewelry boxes for my wife and daughter. I'm guessing if you're into woodworking, furniture making, or anything that requires high precision you'll want the Starett, but for weekend lovers, it's pretty damn good.

Don't Buy This: Carpenter's Square

If you are a locksmith and try to use them for your work you will get fired because they are not SQUARE. I tested the set on myself. Two had significant burrs and dented outer edges. Most of them had corrosion, scratches and so much unevenly distributed oil that small patches of carbon deposits accumulated. The packaging, while reliable, was a nightmare to open. Spend a little more (or even less!) and get a better set than these. They look and function like they've already been heavily used by…

Good enough for carpentry

I'm not a locksmith. I use them in metalworking and welding. They used and abused my assembly table and horizontal band saw. Like many reviewers, I found this to be 100% accurate, but I didn't expect this from a cheap toolkit, and neither should you. In my opinion, I can buy the cheap ones, use them because they're good enough, and not worry about the abuse they get. Or I can buy expensive sets and constantly worry about ruining them. Think of it more like brake calipers. If you need something…

Not square and the edges are not smooth

I was very apprehensive about buying a cheap set of squares but couldn't afford a well known quality brand. I figured it was Grizzly, a well known American organization, and that their product rating/supplier quality rating would be pretty high. I was wrong. The photographs show that they are not square, not even to each other. Also don't block square. What you don't see are the edges. The edges of two squares are not smooth, like they were pressed in too hard, or the scissors weren't sharp and

Good value for money but a few issues

Pros: I bought these for my desktop CNC router so they should be accurate (but not super accurate). The most important? Square! I don't know how well they conform to spec, but there are no noticeable gaps when nested. (Compare the same price Omex set which had a 1/16" square gap!) Cons: Thought they were stainless steel because I don't want to service rusting hardware. However, they came in oiled bags, so definitely not stainless steel. A large fairly severe rust spot on the largest square. Not
