Description of Grumbacher Pre Tested Paint Madder P021G

Reminiscent of crushed blackberries, Brown Madder is a deep, cool red that is muted in tints. The semi-opaque nature of Brown Madder creates excellent glazes for figure painting and portraiture. Each color swatch has been tested for masstone, mixability, lightfastness, drying properties, pigment dispersion and viscosity. Truly a professional paint, the majority of our colors are single pigment, and have a lightfast rating of 1-excellent. Pre-tested Professional offers artists a modern palette with superior tinting strength and is made in USA.

Disappointing Result with Red Paint

This red paint did not meet my expectations for painting. Based on my observations, this paint was thin and required multiple layers to achieve the desired hue. The only benefit was that it was easily blended with other colors. However, for the price, it was a letdown. As someone who enjoys Arts and Crafts, I recommend trying another brand.

Pros
  • Rich and vibrant red color
Cons
  • Has a tendency to dry out quickly when not in use

Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
