Bought this kit specifically for the white color which is not included in the marker repair kits. Even with strong pressure, the paint is applied unevenly. It might have been better if I had warmed up the wax somehow but given the translucent color I saw I didn't think it would cover the scratch properly so I just bought a white permanent marker which worked great . . A white marker would probably work as well.

This is the BEST filler ever. I swear I've tried every paint polish, putty, stain marker, everything. They all suck. I had very low expectations. This product is amazing. It actually filled in the scratches on my desk and painted them! After a bit of grease and a paper towel I couldn't even see where it was. Tip: Choose a shade darker than you think is necessary. It didn't do anything about the bumps in the bottom of my giant dog claws, but they are at least 4mm wide.

The only positive thing is that you get 5 different colors for a small price. Otherwise it's just inferior quality. Compared to the Varatan stick I bought from Home Depot, they are much drier and more friable, making it difficult to fill in the scratch, smooth it out, and then buff it smooth. Guardsman's batons took a lot more tries to get a good finish as the material could come out of the scratches or not be smooth. I used this marking kit for a few scratches and small dents. They seem to camouflage the blemishes sufficiently to be virtually invisible. I'm not sure I liked how it blended into the stain on our wood laminate and found I had to rub it around the edges a bit when applying the paint. On my real wood table, however, it fits very well into the space around the spot. It would have been nice to have a few extra colors to choose from, but the three included in the kit were enough for now.

The downside of this product is that the pencils don't have a wax base to transfer the color pigments, so it takes a fair amount of effort to get a decent result. In a project I was working on, the base just couldn't break enough to blend into and looked hardened. I warmed it up a bit with a hair dryer and the base just rubbed off.
