Why sell a product that doesn't do anything it's supposed to do?

This is my first negative review of a product I have purchased and I can honestly say I have been very lucky so far. But this time my luck turned away. I never buy products with such a bad reputation, but I made an exception based on the helpful advice (hope and greed, I guess) of some other reviewers. Dumbing Down A Product Achievement,

I was very disappointed with the second version of this product. Despite advertising, the sound quality is not as good as that of the previous model. Not higher! In fact, I think this company has replaced the headphones with lower quality ones. High pitches that sometimes hurt my ears. The bass quality has deteriorated significantly. Not great, but better than nothing.

I think swimming is worse than running on the treadmill or spinning. I looked at several options for listening to music underwater and settled on this one. It sits perfectly on my glasses and I don't find it (or the headphone cords) in the way. I tested the unit before putting the shuffle in and it came out dry.
