They are shorter than the old ones but work well. I use a 4-6 cup coffee filter in a basket filter for easy cleaning and it fits perfectly. If someone uses an 8-12 cup filter I can see where it rises above the basket filter. I also use 3 generous scoops of coffee and make the most of it. The only problem I see is that I want the filter to be taller, otherwise it serves its purpose and works fine. I've been using it since I've had it for at least a few weeks with no problems but not a full 12 cup carafe maybe 7 or 8 cups. This morning I added enough for 10 cups and it stopped brewing at about 6 cups (no water was dripping into the carafe at this point). does not drip. I am very satisfied with this product. When I unpacked it I thought it wouldn't be big enough for the large coffee pots I usually make. (I love my coffee) There was no point in worrying. In that regard, it works well. Although the fine sieve on the filter works quite well, finer particles end up in my coffee cup. I've been using paper filters for a long time. I searched Google for the best paper filters to buy and found a permanent filter. My wife and I try to reduce paper consumption (napkins, paper towels, etc.). Why haven't I thought about how many paper filters we use? UPDATE 08/22/2019: After many many uses. . . Minus one star because it doesn't catch all the coffee grounds so the coffee in the pot is a bit gritty. Another star deducted because the coffee brews unevenly from time to time. There are dry spots on the territory. My husband prefers paper filters because paper filters work great every time.
