The sharpener for these pencils is only worth its purchase price. Allows you to achieve a good chisel point on carpenter's pencils with minimal effort. The pens themselves are also of consistent quality.

The sharpener in the set just sucks on the contractor's pencils, tries to put a precise point on it and breaks the lead most of the time. After a few days of frustration, I threw the damn thing in the trash. The pencils are fine, not much to write on, especially considering how long the letter will take if you use the included sharpener to sharpen the pencil for the letter.

I liked these pencils especially the color. Easy to watch and not distract. The pencil sharpener is ok, can't be fought and treated like a normal pencil sharpener, I just ran back and forth on one edge or side of the pencil, once it got good I started on the other side, then you can the pencil like twist a regular pencil sharpener, but don't use too much force. Takes a while but beats the utility knife.
