Very thin glass. Heats up quickly, emphasizing the lack of thickness. Not my perfect matcha mug, not my favorite glass. It's "beautiful", but mass-produced. Spend the excess on something more intimate.

This chavan is amazing. First of all the colors and style make me so happy. I'll buy another! It is very well made and strong. I'm making latte in this mug with matcha. It's even big/deep enough if you want to use it for a soup!

It is very misleading to say that this is 'Japanese design' which actually means 'looks like' but is actually made in China. I'm sorry but when you lie it's hard not to think there's something to hide. lead tested. I doubt.

I use this for everything! Everything from matcha, coffee, brewed tea etc. Honestly I didn't expect something so cheap to be so well made! This is actually the second one I've bought and they're both great! No need to spend $50-$100 on one of these on Etsy or anything like that. Definitely recommend it!

This is more than I expected. I bought some matcha and wanted to make it the way it should be. I bought this bowl which was made in Japan. Can be washed in the dishwasher. The top edge is 5 1/2 inches in diameter, the design looks rough on the outside but is actually pretty smooth. The next step is to learn how to make tea.

I bought two of these bowls. I like the textured surface. As a result, the bowls are very comfortable to hold. The bottoms are smooth so you don't have to worry about them scratching the table. While each cup can hold 20 ounces of liquid when filled to the brim, in reality the bowls cannot hold more than 12-16 ounces of liquid when in use. Having discovered matcha and determined to take my new luxury up a notch I was delighted to find these beautiful ceramic chawans . While I was drawn to the blue and white version, I didn't feel like it had many reviews so I ended up ordering one in each style. In fact, they all have a nice glaze, are beautiful and well made, and are the perfect weight and size for mixing matcha drinks with a chasen (bamboo whisk), but here's a tip for all water lovers: blue and white. reminds me of the beach!
