May be suitable for generators

Didn't reliably absorb vibrations installed on the plane. Probably suitable for generators, pressure washers, something with more vibration.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Exactly, but expensive.

Excellent product but a bit pricey. I think you read very carefully. I have this on my air compressor. vertical?. job title. Registered only when the compressor is running. My truck idling 2 feet away from me won't register. can't beat it

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Not working for my application - unfortunately

Purchased to monitor portable generator run time. Unfortunately, the amount of vibration produced by the generator was not consistent enough to allow for a correct count. Great product but not suitable for my use. I had to go back.

Cons

It's so sensitive it even reads passing vehicles.

It's so sensitive that it even reads traffic passing the house. Can be used to take readings at the beginning and end of a running session, but after 7 hours on the meter the reading is erratic. I ran my generator for 15-20 minutes and didn't register anything. Then it started reading the traffic again!

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Minor problems

Works as advertised

I bought this flow meter for my new air compressor. For the moment it seems ideal for the application (stationary motorized equipment) and works as advertised. It seems well built and durable. I tried running some noisy, powered objects next to it (lawn mowers, rotary cultivators) and couldn't activate the meter, so the meter seemed to accurately measure the compressor run time.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Gas Engine Vibration Hour Meter

Does what I expected. I installed mine on a Ryobi 4 stroke gas blower as the spark plug wire is too short and too narrow to reach the plug wire for other hour meters. Although I left 2 thin wires on the hour meter, I have noticed that reconnecting these wires stops or "freezes" the hour meter when the tool is moved. Then when I want to start my gas fan, I disconnect the cables and the hour meter starts again. I need one for my McCulloch gas saw and will attach these wires to the switch for…

Excellent vibration hour meter IMO.

was skeptical about this meter after reading some reviews very glad I bought it. As expected, it came with zero hours on the counter and has a small tab that you remove after installation. It only starts adding hours after the tab is removed. I installed it on a Porter Cable vertical oil bath reciprocating compressor. It works as expected and has been counting hours accurately since installation. I've only observed that it runs while the compressor is running, not "when the bus is passing" like

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • vaguely remember

Test the meter before permanently mounting it with screws.

I highly recommend that you test this gauge first with temporary tape or velcro before drilling any holes and securing it permanently with the included screws. The unit I received was faulty and seemed perfectly fine despite initializing and zeroing the display exactly as described in the instructions. I'm glad I did NOT just trust it at the time. After zeroing, I attached it to a flat horizontal surface with velcro for maximum sensitivity according to the instructions on a new 4-stroke…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Reliability
