The FiiO FD3 in-ear headphones largely inherit the technologies of the flagship FD5 model - first of all, they have a 12 mm driver with a diaphragm made of diamond-like carbon (DLC), which is large for its class. The ratio of mass and stiffness of this material, according to FiiO, reduced distortion. A powerful magnet is responsible for the movement of the membrane, for which a flux value of 1.5 T is indicated. In its field is a Japanese Daikoku voice coil wound with ultra-thin copper-plated aluminum wire.
