Great PIV card reader

I use my PIV card to log into my work laptop which is provided to me by a government agency. This device is a great replacement for a laptop card reader. As a bonus, it's a plug and play device, so I didn't need admin privileges to install it or use it on my laptop. Very happy with this purchase.

Worked for several months and then died

Worked well for several months and then accidentally stopped working. I've tried all the workarounds but it seems like it's died out for me. I have a MAC so I'm not sure if this is the problem. This may work better for PC users.

Great smart card reader

This is a great smart card reader. It fits perfectly right under my monitor where I can plug in the card. It was plug and play. Plugged in the USB and Windows found the drivers, installed them automatically and was up and running in seconds. I was able to use it with all the things I needed without any problems. I highly recommend this reader.

Great for developers and regular users!

I bought this product to see what I can do with the TWIC card. As soon as I plugged it in, Windows recognized it and imported the certificates from my card as you would expect from a PIV/CAC reader. When I got it I was wondering if I could use it for development and of course HID has a great development guide available on their website. I wrote a python script to check the FedEx Office copy/print card balance. The reader works great.

Robust CAC reader

Summary: I had an old SCR331 and decided it was time to upgrade it as it was starting to fail. Recommendation: Update the driver from the HID website (link below). YES, it works with Windows 10 without _but_ the Windows driver is generic and was released in 2006. HID has an updated driver from last year (2019). One weird behavior is that I also have a Dell CAC keyboard and using my CAC in HID Omnikey sometimes didn't recognize the card; I need to remove and reinsert the CAC. Maybe this driver…
