Support for 8TB drives. Fast RAID 5 Arrays

Perfect. Configured to run 2 RAID 5 arrays, one with 4 drives of 4TB each and the other with 4 drives of 8TB each. Hence, it easily supports 8TB drives. Good speed on these 400MB/s read/write RAID arrays with Seagate and Marshal drives.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers.
Cons
  • Available in black only.

Good value for WHS on internals

I received this card for a new WHS build I was making. Works with 6 internal Hitachi Deskstar 2TB 3.5" CoolSpin RPM SATA III 6Gb/s 32MB 0F12117 hard drives in the LIAN LI PC-Q08R. Nice compact server. There were no problems with the card at all, I had to buy a few SFF-8087- Buy cables to connect drives, boot, initialize as RAID-5 array in card's BIOS, install Windows Home Server 2011 64-bit English 1pk DSP OEM System Builder DVD 10 Client and then format, takes some time, to format 12TB of…

Pros
  • Many will fit
Cons
  • No form required

Doesn't really support Linux

Despite claiming support for Linux, there are no drivers for any of the currently supported kernel versions. The last officially supported kernel was released in 2011.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

Works perfectly. on computer components

This card works great but note that it doesn't have hardware acceleration like more expensive cards. However, if you are looking for a more robust RAID 5 controller card than your onboard card that can support up to 8 devices, you can't go wrong with this card!

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

Very fast, good 8-port board

I bought this to set up a new storage server (8 x 4TB hard drives) and am very satisfied. Since I'm using GlusterFS, I'm only using it in JBOD mode, so I can't see the RAID modes. <$100 for an 8 port SAS controller is very hard to beat. Comes with a low profile bracket which I needed for a 2U rack server. I've also used their online support and it's adequate, but sometimes they take a day or two to respond.

Pros
  • GOLS-certified
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Not used for RAID so works fine

Works with older OEM motherboards after removing the back X1 connector. There is a jumper on this to make it X1 instead of X4. This makes the speed significantly slower, but I was left with no other choice (thanks to Lenovo for letting the X16 port only work for graphics). The only downside is that the download time is increased by about 45 seconds or more. I'm running the OS from an SSD so it usually takes me about 15 seconds to boot up, but now it's over a minute. In general I am satisfied. I

I wish I had 2 of these

I added a pinnacle to my homebuilt Windows 7 server which allowed me to add 8 more SATA ports to my computer. I added them as a JBOD. I just pop it into a PCI slot, add a driver, plug in cables (not included), and boot it up. I have a server with 21 hard drives. I had to add two slower 4x boards to my server because my motherboard didn't have another PCI Express slot. I added two 5-in-3 hot-swap bays. 4-in-1 cables give it a very clean look.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
