Description of HiLetgo® Engraver Printer Expansion Arduino

Each road stepper motors only need two IO ports. This expansion board as a driver expansion board, can be used for engraving machines, 3D printers. PWM Spindle and direction pins. 4-Axis support. Runs on 12-36V DC. It is a total of four slots, can drive four A4988 stepper motor. Each road stepper motors only need two IO ports. In other words, six IO ports can be well managed three stepper motors. Very convenient to use. Stepper motor wiring as follows: 2A, 2B is a group (red, green), 1A, 1B is a group (blue, yellow), if want to change direction, can be change the position of one group , for example 2A, 2B mutually exchanged.

Quality is NOT controlled by this seller

Normally I wouldn't complain about a $7 purchase because my expectations are very low. However, this product and this seller failed on all levels. Obviously the connections are hand soldered and not very good. In places, even on the tips of the pins, isolated drops of solder were still visible. When the units arrived both had a lot of wires that were horribly bent and both had whole rows of pins that weren't soldered straight so they had to be bent. One of the two shields was completely dead…

Pros
  • Holding my fists
Cons
  • Hard to say

Old version of CNC Shield

This cheap copy of Ardunio CNC Shield has an old version and does not work with the latest version of Grbl which is 1.1 at the time of writing this review. You can use Grbl 0.8c or control the Z-Limit and Spindle Enable pins from the board. Version 0.8c can be found here https://github.com/grbl/grbl. Apparently only version 3.51 is compatible with Grbl 1.1.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Sad hardware

1 worked electronics

Glad I ordered 2 because on one board the driver heads were bent 45 degrees and didn't fit, but the other is perfect and works like a charm!

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • No

It's well done.

The CNC board only arrived yesterday and I haven't had a chance to assemble and run it. But from what I've seen on the board so far. It fits on the Arduino uno with no problems, the soldering is good, the connectors are solid and well marked. At this point I would say the money was well spent and I look forward to completing the assembly of the finished CNC controller.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Normal for the price

Normal for the price. I urgently needed a replacement. It should be noted that it does not come with stepper motor drivers or jumpers. So if this is your first time buying this you will need these as well as the wiring. Luckily I had them on hand, but others may not have them. I haven't had any issues with the board so far and it looks well made. The only reason to leave 3 stars is that I really think they should come with drivers even if the cost is higher. For $7 I really can't complain too…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Out of style

Works great for the price but beware of the old pinout

Great product for the price, soldering could be a bit better. For the ones I received, I had to bend some of the connectors a bit to fit the stepper motor drivers. However, note that this is version 3.0 of CNC Shield, which means that it is not fully compatible with the latest version 1.1 of GRBL. The GRBL pinout for Z Limit and Spindle Enable has changed and if you want to use these features with this shield you will need to connect directly to the Arduino pins and cut 2 pins from the shield…

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • I will add later
