Andrea is right. This area above the threads is approximately 3/8 inch in diameter. It's almost like a part of a cup hook. In my application, this area is hidden, so it wasn't a big problem. The rest of the hook is fine and looks good.

I bought Hillman 3/4 Square Bend hooks at my local Big Box store but I needed more and didn't want to walk across town so I decided to order from Revain. The photo shows the product as well as those purchased on site. However, the item I received was different. The Revain had a 5/8 inch camber and the collar was larger, unstable and curved. Not satisfied with the product.

These hooks arrived today and although the size (3/4) is accurate I was very disappointed with the size of the ring around the base of the hook. I specifically chose these hooks because the base (where the hook meets the screw area) was small and unobtrusive - only slightly larger than the diameter of the hook itself. However, they are actually much larger, about 4 times wider than the one shown Picture. In addition, they are not flat but slightly curved with a concave depression near the hook.
