Description of Hillman Group 41837 Phillips 100 Pack: Durable and Budget-Friendly Screwdrive 100 Pack

Wood screws are to be used when joining two pieces of wood. Pre-drilling is recommended. Wood screws also taper along the threaded portion optimizing the screws holding power in wood.

) Excellent Brass Screws

Not as soft as other brass screws I've used to assemble chests. They were used on a cedar chest and I bent and snapped less than usual. (I use 200-300 brass screws for a chest.) Excellent brass screws.

Pros
  • Wood Screws
Cons
  • Damaged

Allow for a 30% failure rate

Looks good but is easy to cut; even when using conical pilot holes. Using them in poplar is not that difficult. All screws broke at the transition from the smooth part to the threaded part. Deformed thread by me, removing the broken screw with pliers.

Pros
  • Fasteners
Cons
  • Available in black only

Twenty percent cut off

Questionable metal composition. About every fourth or fifth screw broke off while tightening. It was with the pilot holes and my attempts to be careful not to overtighten them. Also, it was mostly pine and not hardwood. The only reason it gets more than one star is because they appear to be clean with no burrs and the quantity was accurate. Good thing I also used quality wood glue alongside those screws, otherwise I'd be "screwed", pun intended.

Pros
  • Screws
Cons
  • Bad instructions
