Great hydrometer! the best in brewing

Great areometer for the hobby brewer. We've been making wine for a few years now and a friend would come over to check it with his hydrometer. It is very pleasant to follow it with our own hydrometer. It is made of durable plastic and works very well. Definitely recommend this product for purchase.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not all fit

The scale is EASY to read.

This hydrometer is much better than others I have used. Without all the color on the dial, it's a lot easier to read. The scale is in the tube too, nice and straight compared to the previous two I've had from other vendors which look like a blind monkey would put them together crookedly. I think I'll find one of these just because I like it so much.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Hard to say

It really measured my hydroelectric power station

Overall it works great and comes with a handy paper chart. My only complaints are twofold: it's difficult to pour wort/beer here alone, as the bottom of the cylinder is unstressed and prone to falling, and the radius of the cylinder is much larger than necessary. I don't like wasting a good 12-16 ounces just to get a reading because of the diameter. However, I can't complain too much about the price.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Useless features

Absolutely normal. - Brewing

Suitable for high volume brewing. I like the storage box to keep the jar safe. I recommend a smaller hydrometer for homemade kombushi. The tube must be completely transparent so as not to cause problems when reading the readings. It would be nice if the 3 sides had separate indicators on the floating top for easier reading. But it's good for experienced brewers. It would be nice if the instructions for beginners were more detailed.

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons
  • Only available in black

I've ordered it twice - the first one broke but I don't know how to replace it (I've been out of town since then so haven't had a chance to try it out ) I quickly ordered another one and on the 2nd day I sent it to the place I visited - - the second one arrived in good condition - - we did scientific experiments with children aged 6-11 - - - diet- Soda with a similar density to water 1,000 and regular soda 1,044 --- we had fun testing different things and mixing different things to test.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in white

too big, waste hose

areometer in perfect condition. However the reason I bought it was for the vial which clearly does NOT fit well. The base is so twisted that it doesn't even sit upright. It literally falls down if you put it on a flat surface due to deformation. I tried to bend back the warped base and sure enough it broke. he's even more useless now than before. I guess for $12.99 I can't complain too much. If the tube was functional I would still only rate it 3 or 4 stars because it takes too much wort to…

Pros
  • trial period for one year
Cons
  • old

I've been using this for several months and finally ran more detailed calibration tests to ensure my readings are accurate (trying to calculate the efficiency of my brewhouse). I checked closely to confirm that the instructions say I should test in 60F water, but that wasn't the case for my test. That's when I noticed that the scale of a real hydrometer reads "68F" (see figure). It's confusing enough, but when I tested the 68F water it was still off, I ended up measuring 1.00 in 80F water…

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Protection
